Brown's Guitar Mill
About a year ago, I made my first visit to to Vinylyte Records to check out their new location in the historic Newnan Square. Located in in the back of their store was Brown's Guitar Mill, where I saw a man sanding the body of a custom guitar that he was building. I've always had an appreciation for people who possess the talent of craftsmanship by working with their hands. Since that first visit, I knew that I wanted to photograph the shop!
For several months I would stop by, and ask/promise/threaten that I would come in one day and wanted to shoot them in action, working on a guitar. Cut to last October, I had the chance to spend some time with Randy King, who was setting up a guitar. I've been in bands and around guitars for many years, but I learned more from Randy King in two hours than I could have imagined! If your ever in downtown Newnan, GA, stop by and check these guys out! They make custom guitars, do set ups and repairs, and also have a pretty sweet rotating inventory of used guitars for sell!
I had a lot of fun shooting these environmental portraits, and hope to get back to Brown's Guitar Mill soon to get more photos of them making custom guitars!
